Your Will Is Your Life

The world teaches you to, “Love yourself, before you can love others”. But Christ teaches you that, the greatest love is to surrender your life to God, for the sake of your brothers in faith (John 15:13; 1John 3:16). In another passage, Christ reiterates, “He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it for eternal life” (John 12:25).

Your will is your life. He who surrenders his will, surrenders his life to God.

You cannot surrender your life to God if you must first love yourself. Because he who loves himself, loves his life. And he who loves his life in this world, shall be unwilling and afraid to give it up, to “lose it” for God.

But he who “hates” his life in this world, is he who shall have the courage and the faith to surrender his life to do the will of God. Furthermore, Christ says, “… unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it produces much grain.” (John 12:24).

Unless you “die” from obeying your will, you cannot live to obey God’s will.

Blessed are those who are given wisdom to discern between truth and lie (1Kings 3:9).
